 15'S t'j i, --- -- --- --
' July 31 , 197II
 Certi ficate tlo. 7305-301
Page T•io
_ - There are several meChods of accomplishing proof rolling. The following
j is the method. corisidered tfie most suitable for this project. The Dynapac
CA-15 is a self-propelled vibratoi•y compactor capable of applyin9 a
centrifugal force of 333 pounds per linear inch. This type of unit is
suitable for proof rolling and for compaction of the 'remainder of the
building and parF;in9 area to produce the required density. ?t should be
effective in the granular aterials that appear at or near the surface
- aver much of the site.
.
_. ; It is recommended that ie be given the opportunity to observe the proof
'1 rolling and assist in determining what areas are suiiable and •ihat
- 7
" corrective action should be taken in the failed areas, should any develop.
' i We would assign a geotechnical inspection to this task.
It will be necessary for you to add a section titled "Proof Rolling" to
your special provisions and also, it aill be necessary to make provision
for removal wasting and replacing aith clean, granular material any
unstable soil that develops during the process of proof rolling. In
: -` addition to the roller as noted above it should be stated that proof
 ,
rolling shall continue until the required 957 of maximum density has
: been attained in the pavzment areas and 97% in the building area, without
 loss of stability.
j We trust this will provide the information ycu need. If wc can be of

any further help in this matter, either now or during contract adminis-
tration, please call upon us.
` .,.:.. . . , /
Prepared by: Y.enneth E.
