Your staff 'has been most cooperative in communicat-
ing with me concerning the situation. We had a productive
meeting with your staff on Tuesday afternoon,.September 11.
Whether we are making progress towards a mutually acceptable
solution, of course, remains to be seen.
However, since that meeting there have been some additional.
developments and my clients have further evaluated their posi-
tion. Hence, this letter.
First, the timetable has become most critical. At the
time of the September 11 meeting, my clients believed that
the construction time frame for the Fredericks building was
very important, with a projected opening date of August, 1980.
The marketing considerations for this opening date were explained
to your staff at that time. After the meeting, however, Fred-
ericks advised my clients that the time frame was critical!
If Fredericks is not able to open an Everett Mall store in
August of 1780, Fredericks will not have a store at the Everett
Mall Shopping Center. There will be no delayed opening as dis-
cussed with your staff on September: 11. I did mention this
subsequent development to Brad Cattle, City Attorney, by
telephone but wanted to formalize this notification to the
City of Everett.
-1--
