Cole & Associates: In response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and you are advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld ,or the reasons listed below. These comments address building issues only, additional revisions or additions may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1991 Uniform Building Code, as amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 1991, 2nd Edition, unless stated otherwise. 1. All buildings and additions or alterations to buildings over 4,000 square feet require the plans and specifications to be prepared by an architect currently licensed to practice in the State of Washington. RCW 18.08 2. Provide a smooth, hard, nonabsorbent surface on floors and walls of toilet rooms per Section 510(b). Vinyl tile floors do not comply. Sheet vinyl floors with a 5" caved base do comply. 3. At least one handrail shall extend at least 12 inches beyond the top riser and 23 inches beyond the bottom riser. Section 3306(i). 4. The exit from the employee lounge may not pass through the warehouse area. Section 3303(e). 5. A clear circular unobstructed floor space 60 inches in diameter witnin the toilet room is required. Doors may encroach into this space by not more than 12 inches. Section 3106(k)2. 6. The bottom of at least one mirror shall be within 40 inches of the floor. Section 31050))3 and 3106(k)8. 7. Hand drying equipment and toilet accessories shall be placed within 40 inches of the floor. Section 3106(k)8. 8.
