Plant locations will be tield adjusied at <br />direction of Landscape Architect. <br />Perlorm all excavations as required for installation oi work included underihis Seclion, <br />inctuding shoring of earth banks, if necessary. Restore all su,taces, eristing <br />underground installat�ons, etc., damaged or cut as a result of the excrvation, to their <br />original condition. <br />Dig trenches wide enough to allow a minimum of 6" between parallel pfPe lines. <br />Trenches shall be of suflicient depth to provide minimum covarfrom tinish grade as <br />tollows: <br />1. Over PVC �ipe on pressure side of irrigation control valve, control wires and <br />qwck-cbup ing valves (mainlines): 15" <br />2. Over pipe on non-pressure side of irrigation control valve (lateral lines): 12". <br />3. Excavate to depth required fn any matenal encountered with no exlra <br />compensation. Matenais unsuitable for bedding of pipe to be removed to depth <br />4" below trench boriom and replaced with any of the following suitable bedding <br />materials as directed by the Landscape Architect. <br />a. From bottom of trench to specified subgrade: Excavated trench material <br />free oi material which might damage the pipe, including rocks, roots, <br />sticks, debris, or other sharp objecls over 1" m diameter, or sand as <br />required. <br />b. From subgrade to iinish grade: Topsoil, depth and type as speciTied in <br />Seclion 02480, Planting. <br />4. The top 6" ot topsoil, when such exists, shall be kept separate from subsoil and <br />shall be replaced as the top layer when backfill is made. <br />Exercise care when excavating trenches near existing trees and shrubs. Where roots <br />are 2" and greater in diameter, except in the direct path of the pipe, hand excavate and <br />tunnel. When large roots are exposed, wrap with heavy.burlap for protection and to <br />prevent excessive drymg.Trenches dug by machines ad�acent to trees having roots 2" <br />and less in diameter shall have the sides hand trimmed, making a clean cut of the roots. <br />All roots 1/2" and greater in diameter that are cut and trimmed shall be treated with an <br />approved tree wound dressing.Trenches having exPosed tree roots shall be backfilled <br />wilhin 24 hours unless adequately protected by rrioist buriap or canvas. <br />SLEEVING: <br />Install sleeves under all paved and suriaced areas, through walls, and as required to <br />facilita?e a smooth consiruction sequence. Coordinate with other trades as required. <br />Sleeves to be minimum twice the IPS diameter of insert pipe, and shall extend a <br />minimum of 12" beyond edge of walls, walks, and paving. Plug ends of pipe to prevent <br />soil from entering ends. <br />Sleeve at depths specified tor pipe under Fx�AVATING AND TRENCHING. <br />PIPE ASSEMBLY� <br />General: <br />1.
