Because of job attrition in certain
sectors of the economy over the past couple of years, growth in the region around
the Boeing Company plant is likely to lag for some time before recovering to former
employment levels. Growth in the Paine Field area south of Casino Road is forecast
to grow at a greater rate and in absolute numbers than the area to the north of
Casino Road but is forecast to lag behind the employment growth rate in the older,
northern portions of the City.
Population growth is anticipated in the southern portion of the City, south of Casino
Road and in the Mukilteo region. Growth in the older, northern portions of the City
is anticipated to remain relatively stable over the next decade. Figure 5 depicts the
population density within the City of Everett as described in the 2000 Census of
Population.
Demographics
A number of maps were prepared to show the spatial concentrations of population groups
known to have a high propensity for transit ridership. Figures 4 and 5 depict the
concentrations of the elderly and the disabled in the Everett area, with higher densities shown
in the darker-colored blocks.
Perteet Engineering,Inc.
