continue to walk to the campus. Comfortable, safe and covered pedestrian facilities
across the campus and adjacent to the campus are necessary.
A logical and prominent way-finding system for pedestrians arriving from other
downtown origins, bus stops, on-street parking and the Everett Station multi-modal
center is essential to encourage continued use of these modes. The way-finding system
should also be integrated into the internal pedestrian systems within the buildings on
campus and integrated with other vehicular way-finding that may be used to access
loading zones, parking facilities or drive-through facilities.
Sidewalks on all frontage streets must be improved to 12 feet in width where necessary
and bulb-outs provided at intersections or mid-block cross-walks on Wall Street, Oakes
Avenue and Wetmore Avenue. Sidewalks and paths across the proposed plaza and
around existing and future buildings must assist pedestrians in reaching the desired
location. For example, a high quality, covered pedestrian connection through or around
the County Courthouse to bus stops and shelters on Wetmore Avenue is considered to be
critical.
CRI Transportation Impact Analysis Page 40 June 2002
