Allestad
June 18 , 1990
SCOPE OF WORK
our geotechnical evaluation included subsurface exploration,
enqineering evaluations, and the preparation of this report.
The scope of work included the following specific tasks:
o Excavated five test pits to depths ranging from
6.5 to 12 feet below the ground surface to obser e
the subsurface soiJ. conditions. Approximate
locations of the tesc pits are shown on Figure 2.
o Continuously logged the subsurface conditions, as
encountered in the test pits at the time of
excavation. Logs of the test pits are presented
on the summary sheets of Appendix A.
o Performed engineering evaluations of the site
conditions and developed appropriate recom-
mendations for foundations systems, temporary
excavations, retaining walls and site gradinq.
o Prepared this geotechnical report summarizing our
findings and recommendations for site development.
EXISTING SZTE CONDITIONS
The proposed residence site is located ir, a small swale area
at the extreme southerly end of the Pigeon Creek canyon in
Everett, Washington (see Figure 1) . The site is bordered by
residential property on the east and south, y an Everett
sewage pump station on the west and by Magnolia Avenue on
the north. At the time of our field investiqation, the site
had been previously cleared but was undeveloped. Vegetation
on the site consisted primarily of heavy blackberry growth
on all but the east slope which was covered with grasses and
brush. The heavy blackberry growth had recently been cut
down but cuttings remained on the site. Some large (18 to
24 inch diameter) tree stumps were observed in the east
central area of the site.
Topoqraphy in the site vicinity is generally rather flat
lying except for the small swale in which the site lies as
shawn in Figure 1. Local site topography is approximately
depicted on Figure 2. The existing site topography consists
of a relatively flat lying area in the southwest quadrant of
he site which slopes up gently to Magnolia Avenue at the
north end of the lot. At the north-central area of the site
a low area exists which appears to have been created by fill
placement from the consturction of Magnolia Avenue and other
sources. On the east side a short but steep slopa exists
along the full lengtY. of the east property boundary. The
east slope drops down steeply from the adjoining lot to the
east with slope angles measured in the ranqe of 20 to 40
Page No. 2
Project No. 90-122-01
