W. A. KIDDER
Fire Chief
EVERETT FIRE
280; OAKES AVENUE
L•`s: g
DEPARTMENT
May 73 1963
Mr. Lawrence Erickson
Building Inppector, City of Everett
City Hall.
Dear Sir:
I:VERETT, WASHINGTON
HILLS R. COLLINS, SR.
Firc Dlarshal
I inspected the apartment building located at 2938 Lombard on the
above date and the following is my findings:
1. The building has inadequate fa^ilities for egress in case of fire
or panic.
2. There are unprotected plywood walls which would increase the
spread of fire to a very dangerous rate.
3. There are open stairways that would allow fire and smoke to trap
occupants on upper floors.
4. The exposed wiring is unsafe and inadequate.
5. There is no automatic fire alarm system
6. The plaster on the walls is to thin to give adequate separation
between apartments. Also in case of fire this plaster would fall
and leave the wood lathe exposed. This would give the fire a
chance to spread through out the building and also endanger the
adjacent property.
In my opinion this building is beyond repaif and should not be allowed
to exist in fire zone #1. It not only endangers the occupants but it also
endangers the surrounding property. It is my recommendation that this
building be demolished.
Sincerely Yours,
1iiis Col r.
Fire Marshal.
