STRUCTURAUCIVIL
Size: 119' - 3 x 156' - 0 x 38' - 6 high (building frame wiil be designed for the future ddition of
two more iloors for a total height of 76' - 6)
2. Tvoe of construction: Structural steel braced frame with cast-in-piace concrele flocr slab;. East
elevation will have concrete wall from ground fioor slab to r-, d floor. Strucural steel iloor framing has been estimated on th: hasis o( composite
floor design. This reduces the sirdural steel weight but does place some re.,irictions on cutting
floor slab openings in the future.
3• Foundations: No geotechnical investigation .has been made. The adjacenk nrture to which we
are adding is supported by 45 ton 10 BP4-2 H piles. Based on phone conversations with John
dartin of Dames & Moor, we can very likely get a higher capacily piling after doing a sois
im•estigaiion.
4. Ground floor slab: Structurai slab and beam system supported by colurrn foundations.
5. Fire orotedion: Steel floor framing and bracing will be protected by sprayed on retardant.
Columns will have concrete encasement 6' high and gypsum board encasement abn; e.
g. Floor live loads: 300 PSF plus 30,000 # clamp truck. Ground floor slab - 500 PSF plus 30,000 #
clamp truck.
GENERAL
1. The site consists of an existing building and parking area. Underground utilities including fire
proteclion, sanitary sewer, stortn drainage and electrical are located within the limits of work.
2• An existing Naval Reserve Center is locat:d adjacent to the proposed expansion area. The
Reserve Center will be removed at a later time. paved access road will be provided through
the Reserve Cnter area to tie in at the existing ch.p unloading station. The cost for this roadway
has been listed separately.
3• Parking for the Naval Reserve Cenler will be eliminated with construction of the proposed
facility. Temporary parking for 28 vehicles will be provided north of the two clarifiers and a
sidewalk extended to the Reserve Center drive. The cost for this work has been listed
separately.
4. The new facility will include a building expansion (12U x 156), paved truck apron, truck docks,
staging for 35 truck trailers, and associated fire protection, storm drainage and sanitary sewer.
DEMOLITION
Includes remuval and hauling within two miles lo an offsite disposal or slorage area, the following
items:
a.
