Our work was performed in accordance with our workplan authorized by !he City dated <br />June 8, 2000. The results of our site exploration are presented in this report and are subject <br />to the limitations presented in this repoR. <br />2.0 RACKGROUND <br />The subject property is located at the southeast comer of the intersec:ion of Beverly <br />Boulevard and Madison Street in Everett, Washington (Figure I). The City has operated <br />Fire Station Number 5 on this property for several decades. Two underground F,�el storage <br />tanks were located on this property and used by the fire station. One tank is still in service <br />and contains diesel fuel for the station's fire trucks. The other tank was removed in 1991 <br />and a release of the stored gasoline was discovereu at that iime. Cuaently, the City is <br />evaluating remedial options before redevelo»mcnt of the site (and adjacent four southern <br />parcels) as an expanded fire station. <br />2.1 Site Exploratlon Background <br />Presented below is a summary of findings from the previous site explorallons. <br />Soil Gas Sarvey and Soil Sampling Results, Rlttenhousc-Zeman & Assaciates <br />In July 1991, Rittenhouse-Zeman & Associates (tcZA) conducted a soil gas sure�ey and <br />collecied seil samples in the azea of the forme: gasoline tank (at the fire station and on the <br />adjacent property). Reportedly, approximately 850 gallons of gasoline leaked from a 1,000- <br />gallon UST at the southwest corner of this station. The performed exploration work <br />identified that gasoline contamination was present, but the extent of the contamination was <br />not known. <br />Assessment of Petroleum-Affected Soils, 5eacor <br />Subsequent to RZA's woek, SEACOR conducted an additional exploration in August of <br />1991. This work included the drilling of seven soil borings nenr the former UST, conversion <br />of two of those borings into vadose-zone monitoring wells, and the collection and analysis <br />of soil samples. Borings were advanced to depths between 20 and 31 feet, with samples <br />collected for analysis at depths between 16 and 31 feet.
