4.1.1 Analytica/ Resu[ts, Monitoring Wells
G-Logics submitted a water sample collected from VW-2 for petroleum-hydrocazbon
analyses. This sample was collected on October 27, 2000. Malytical results indicate the
presence of petroleum hydrocarbons, quantified as gasoline, at a concentration of 6,600
ug/I. Benzene was not detected in the sample (detection limit of 10 ug/1), but ethylbenzene,
toluene, and xylenes were detected at concentrations above the current MTCA Method A
Cleanup Levels. MTBE was not detected (<50 ug/1) in the analyzed sample.
When comparing the contaminant concentrations to the proposed Method A Cleanup Levels
presented in the latest draft addendum to MTCA (August 2000), only the gasoline
concentration exceeds the proposed cleanup levels (Table 2). Furthermore, the new Method
A Cleanup I.evel for gasoline assumes that groundwater is or will be used for drinking-
water purposes.
4.3 Quality Assurance/Quality Control Findings
The laboratory conducted matrix spike, matrix-spike duplicate, and method blank analyses.
Laboratory QA/QC information is included (with the laboratory report) in Appendix D.
5.0 CONCLUSIONS
Information regazding the Phase II findings and our conclusions conceming the potential
presence of soil and/or shallow groundwater contamination on the subject property is
presented below.
• The completed borings generaily encountered very dense glacial rill soils to a
depth of approximately 37 feet, where advance outwash sands were
discovered.
• Free groundwater was not encountered in any of the borings. However, moist
soils were occasionally discovered in thin disconrinuous lenses located above
finer-grain soil layers.
. No evidence of immiscible petroleum product, sheens, or strong odors was
noted in any of the completed borings. Faint gasoline-like odors were noted
in a few scattered samples collected from the two borings closest to the
gasoline release, but the odors were not consistent throughout the explored
depths.
.,
;:
01-0IOSL-RT.doe , SOQICS
Copyright 2001 G-Logics, Ine.
