 J,(_.'l'77
In response to the Environmental Checklist for the_
Olso Apartment Building Proposal, the following
comments were received via telephone conversation
with Dave Saunders of the Department of Ecology,
a Noise Specialist:
1. The building must be designed to limit noise on inside walls
to 35 DBA. This is especially critical in sleeping areas
to protect against sleeo interference.
7.. Walls with windows can be designed to accompl.ish this goal
(meet the noise reqvirements) Uut may necessitate the use
of double glaze or thermo-pane windows. The area of
window exposure is critical and must be considered in the
design. .
3
4.
Peaks of noise are the main problem, and,the building must
be designed to counter peaks of 85 DBP..
Reflected noise should be considered in the design (noise
reflected from surrounding residential structures).
5. An "L" shape design facing Madison would result in a
"Canyon Effect" to intensify the noise problem. An "L" shape
design facing inward would minimise noise.
6. The greater the building setback the more noise will be
minimised.
,:F. .,.:;:,>;
CITY OF
everett
CTY H.LL • ISY-0933
[V[qCTT.
