I_
_
.
C eolnnic lnve+tiQation nnd Geoiechal l=niinrerinc RePor(
l]19 A-Indronn dve - Lo! 3
!a'erefl, INn.ehingfnn
3.0
3.1 Site Descriation

DATA COMPILATION AND REVIEW
97-01-20
Site visits were made by GES, Inc. on Feb. 10 & Feb. 1Z, 1997. Previous site work had been
undertaken by GES, Inc. on Sept. 13, 1996 and was reported in our letter dated Sept. 21, 1996. The
geologic investigation and reconnaissance of the site and surrounding area were completed during the
second visit on Feb. 17, 1997.
Madrona Ave. is a relatively short, narrow re.sidential street that loops off of Wiukilteo Blvd. in
southwest Everett. Most homes on the northwestern side of the street are bluff top, directly
overlooking the Puget Sound. Burlington Northern Railroad (BNRR) tracks run along the base of the
bluff- fronting on the Puget Sound shoreline. A Vicinity Map showing the site relative to existing area
municipal improvements is included in Appendix A of this report.
The project site is located at 1229 Madrona Ave. It is surrounded by single family residences to the
north and south, Madrona Ave to the east and the Burlington Northern Railroad/Puget Sound to the
west. We understand that the property was purchased by Bdl- Properlies and the site was platted intn
two lots. Lot #1 contained the original house on the site and is located to the north. Lot #1 has been
sold. Lot #2 is the sideyard along the south side of the original hose. Lot #2 is landscaped and slopes
down moderately steep to the west from Madrona Ave. A two (2) stury carport is located on the
southeast corner of the lot. The lower floor of the carport contains two doors that open into the yard.
This area is used for storage. The upper floor of the carport is at the same elevation as the street and
contains the car deck area. A concrete retaining wall runs from the carport to the backside of the home
on lot #I - parallcl to Madrona Ave. Slopes in the project area are grass covered with a few mediwn
sizcd spnice trecs/ bnish along the southem property line and a couple of mature rliodedendrums along
the upper part of the site. Slopes appeared stable at the time of the investigation. A small topographic
depression located in the northcentral portion of the site, at approximately el. 128., suggests a possible
3
GES, Inc. O
