.
(knlnic /nvesli¢nfinn nnd Gentechnical lirrxineerinr Renor(
l?.'J:1lndroa I ve. - / of 3
lirere((, I{'arhing(on
4.1 Seasonal Working Conditions
.
97-01-20
77ie soil found below this site is moisture sensitive and will readily become moisture disturbed if worked
or exposed during extended periods of wet weather. We caution that working on these soil when wet
could alter their engineering characteristics. The recommendations given in this report are not directed
toward wet weatUer construction. The recommendations contained 'm this report speciScally address
dry weather development. If site development is to proceed during extended periods of wet weather or
if de eaosed soil is moisture disturbed, GES, Inc. sUould be contacted to develop appropriate
recommendations given the observed conditions. Certaiv elements of the project may not be able to be
completed witlout consideraole effort and additional expense under these circumstances.
4.2 Site Preaaration
Site preparation v.,il include clearing/grubbing and the removal of most existing improvments in order
to establisl construction grades wit7in the building area. The removal of exiKnig improvements should
include all building materials, foundation elements as shown on the site plans, siabs, deleterious
materials, top soil and vegetation to the requ'ved site grades. To limit site disturbance and help maintain
slope stability's below tle site, we recommend that clearing and grubbing be limited to the building
envelope. These materials should be removed avd disposed of at an approved, licen ,ed recycling and/or
constructiou demolition site. A copy ofthe licensee or permit allowing the disposal of these raterials at
tlis site sliould be provided to tLe owner prior to the start of the site preparation.
A significmt amount of surfacc water nui-off and shallow ground water was noted during the site
ealoration phase of this investigation. Because of tliis, surface water rwi-of}' and grouud water
seepage may be encowuered during excavation. Site grades should allow for the positive druinage of
intercepted water out of tle building envelope. Standing water may disturb the exposed soil. A
minimum 6" of cnished rock may be placed as a working surface along the bottom oF the site if
moisture disturbed soil is encowcered. Surface water nm-off rnay effect the stability of cut slopes,
7 GES, Inc.
la
