A self-closing, solid corP door must be installed for the. <br />laundry room. Any restraining device must be activated by <br />an approved smoke detector. <br />b. A covered metal container must be provided for the disposal <br />of combustible waste in the laundry room. <br />GSNERAL INFOR!lATION <br />The Police Department has the following security recommendations: <br />1. Tot lots should be centrally located and near each apartment <br />unit for parental supervision. <br />2. The perimeter doors should be solid core with 190 degree to <br />220 deqree wide angle viewers and single cylinder dead-bolts <br />with 1" throw and at least 3" screws securing striker plate. <br />3. Bay windows should overlook the parking lot for increased <br />security of vehicles and tenants. <br />4. Sliding glass doors should have Charlie Bars installed for <br />optimum security. <br />5. Elevators should be equipped with duress alarms. <br />6. Address and apartment numbers should be in 5 inch letters and <br />visible from the street and parking lots. <br />7. Mailboxes should be centrally located in an area highly <br />visible to the apartments. <br />8. Lighting of the parking lots and underground lighting should <br />be a minimum of 3-4 foot candles. <br />9. Local fire and intrusion alarm systems zoned for each entity <br />are recommended for the recreation building and office. <br />Znstall recreational room lockers with padlocks furnished by <br />tenants. <br />10. A common building entrance must be kept locked and should be <br />provided with an intercom and electronic access. Each floor <br />should have an individual locked access door. <br />11. Storage lockers should be constructed of concrete block with <br />steet security doors that can be padlocked with a minimum 1/2" <br />case hardened steel shackle padlock or a single cylinder <br />deadbolt with a 1" throw. If doors open to the outside or if <br />hinges are exposed, provide pin hinges. <br />
