These <br /> standards may be modified upon City review of baseline information. <br /> 3. Survival of planted and voluntaer native vegetation shall be a minimum of 80 <br /> percent aftar 3 years. This s;andard shall be modified if survival is less than 80 <br /> percent but the restoration area meets the performance standards for areal <br /> coverage. If this is the case, the restoration plantings shall be judged successful. <br /> Maintenance <br /> The maintenance period shall extend for 3 growing seasons after the Glanting <br /> operations are complete. If inadequate maintenance is exhibited, this period may be <br /> extended until performance standards (according to the restoration criteria) are met. <br /> The maintenance program requires monthly visits during the growing season, (March <br /> through September). All non-nativelundes;rable plants (Blackberries, ScoYs Broom, <br /> Canary Grass etc.) that may inhibit the growth of new plantings, shall be removed by <br /> � hand from the restoration area. Volunteer trees should be thinned to allow for best <br /> growth. An average spacing of 10-ft on center for trees is recommended. Any tree <br /> staking materials shail be monitored and removed when appropriate. The plant pits <br /> shall remain free of weeds or competing plants, to insure optimum growth. Replanting <br /> of any dead trees or shrubs noted in the first year of monitoring wili be conducted the <br /> first year(�vinter) after installation only. <br /> iVlonitoring <br /> General <br /> The wetland and upland planting areas will be monitored for a period of three years <br /> following construction. Monitoring shall commence the first year following completion of <br /> all construction activities. Monitoring will use standardized techniques and procedures <br /> as described below to measure the survival and growth of plant material and the <br /> success of the restoration plan overall. The monitoring strategy will include the <br /> following elements unless otherwise approved by the City of Everett. <br /> 1. Photopoints <br /> Photopoints shall be established in order to obtain representative photographs of the <br /> restoration project. Photographs of the buffer planting area will be taken from the same <br /> ( locations to document appe�rance, progress, and changes of the project. The existing <br /> conditions prior to plant installation will be photographed to provide historical <br /> 2 l��l <br /> u <br />
