WETLAND DELINEATION ANID STREAM SURV�Y MTTHODOLOGY The study will analyze the presence of hydrologic indicators in both Yhe��eHand mid upiand azeas along the wetlands easU west sides to delineate the exact location of thc weUand edge. The following methodology descriptions are condensed from the 1997 Washington State Department of Ecology Wetlands Identification and Delineation Manual,which in tum is based on ihe U.S.Army Corps. of Engineers, 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual. The presence of a wetland can only be confirmed by the presence of three primary components,hydrophytic vegetation,a hydric soil, and hydrology. The par<imeters for dctermining these cumponents aze detailed below. Vegetation The presence oF hydrophytic vegetation is a key indicator of the presence of a wetL nd. Tluee p�rameters are unalyzed to determine the presence of hydrophytic vegetation,Aie plant's indicator status; it's strata,and dominancc. Hydrophytic vegetation occurs on sites where soils undergo periods of water inundation on a repetitive cycle.The occurrence of such pressures limits tl�e growth of flora to a select group of species with the necessary adaptations to sun�ive such conditions. It is impor[ant to note that infinite variations on the cycle of hydrology in a given wetland give rise to a myriad of plant adaptations.
