[3uffers to the svaterway aze currently in use as residential lawn and gravel driveways.
There is no connectivity of vegetation between the subject properties waterway and arcas
to the north or south. As mentioned, the inflow from the north is an approximatcly 50 1.
long culved traversing Holly drive approximately ]0 fect blow tlc roadway. The
outflow is through a neighboring maintained lawn.
WETLAND DELINEATION ANID STREAM SURVY MTTHODOLOGY
The study will analyze the presence of hydrologic indicators in both YheeHand mid
upiand azeas along the wetlands easU west sides to delineate the exact location of thc
weUand edge. The following methodology descriptions are condensed from the 1997
Washington State Department of Ecology Wetlands Identification and Delineation
Manual, which in tum is based on ihe U.S.Army Corps. of Engineers, 1987 Wetland
Delineation Manual.
The presence of a wetland can only be confirmed by the presence of three primary
components, hydrophytic vegetation,a hydric soil, and hydrology. The par<imeters for
dctermining these cumponents aze detailed below.
Vegetation
The presence oF hydrophytic vegetation is a key indicator of the presence of a wetL nd.
Tluee prameters are unalyzed to determine the presence of hydrophytic vegetation,Aie
plant's indicator status; it's strata,and dominancc.
Hydrophytic vegetation occurs on sites where soils undergo periods of water inundation
on a repetitive cycle. The occurrence of such pressures limits tle growth of flora to a
select group of species with the necessary adaptations to sunive such conditions.
It is impor[ant to note that infinite variations on the cycle of hydrology in a given wetland
give rise to a myriad of plant adaptations. Categories of the general habits of plants arc
documented in thc indicator status chart below(WA DepL Ecology 1997).
Indicator Statas Indicator Symboi Dc6nition
Obligate Wctland Plants OBL Plants that almost always
occur(estimated probabilit;
>99%) in wetlands under
natucal conditions.
Facultalive Wetland Plants IACW Plan;s that usually oceur(est.
probability 67%to 99%) in
wedands.
Facultativc Plzuils PAC Plants with a similar
likelihood (34%-G6°/r)of 3
