WeUand positive samplesvere gcnerally low chroma matrises of lOYR 2/] or 10 YR 2/2
with motding. Wedand negative and conirol sampics ezhibitcd soils of more ycllowish
colorations in the ]0 YR 5/0 or 4/6 chromas.
Flydrology
The hydrogeomorphic classification(HGM) otthe strcam corridor is riverine, upper
perennial with unidirectional ilow. Intlow is accredited to ovedand sources.
Hydrologic indicators in sample pits wete gcnerally attributed to the presence of saturated
or standing water,or were associated with surface drainage pattems. Some mottling or
oxidized root channels were observed, indicating a minimum of seasonal Ilucwtions i❑
thc lop 12" of thc samFles.
Strcam Survey
The Washington State Dept. of Natural Resources officially recognizes twovaten•;ays in
the ara,the Type 3 and 5 as discussed in the introduction. However on site cvaluation
and unofficial surveys of adjacent development establish the lack of a contluence with
the Type 3 (ECC Typc P) fish beazing stream for some distance downstream. The
southerly neighbor submitted a slream and wetland survey report entitled Bo;np-
I iollowdale clearly showing the on site stream segmcnt tlows south southwest„ not
southeasterly, and crosses Hollowdale drive(fig.6), This tinding was confirmed with
cvaluation performed in the field.
The Swamp creek watershed is pockmazked with partial barriers to fish passage in six
different areas downstream (fig. 7). Maintaining the determination of Ute subject wcAand
as a 7'ype Np is also not confirmed by field studies. On site inflow is clearly residential
runoff from roadside culverts as seen in photo#I, and evidently driven by seasonal
runoff of this residential area. The porlion of the stream that crosses the subject property
is thc only vegetated portion oPthc stream for some distance to thc norih and south. Photo
number 4 illustrates the outflow to the south southwest, also exhibiting a lack of
vcgetative evidence indicating perennial hydrology.
[3efore any confluence wit}i the fish bearing stream section occurs, three tributaries, as
illustrated in photos 6,7,and 8 cross IIollowdale Drive. Photo six is nothing more than a
drainage ditch in a residential lawn. Photo seven, the outflow from our subject properiy is
cicarly labeled with signage of polluted waters,s is plioto 8 the"fish bearing DNR Typc
3 strcam. Poer water quality from high Coliform levels is clearl,y laheled warn;ng
residents to avoid contact itli contaminated waters.
s
