30 <br />January 29, 1975 <br />I hope when January, 1980, rolls around, none of us officials in <br />the room today will be occupying positions of elected responsibility <br />in the City of Everett; because, in fact, we will each individually <br />feel so secure in the record of our accomplishments and so rewarded <br />by our personal efforts that we will feel comfortable in turning <br />the reins of government over to those who can engage in a fresh <br />new cycle of creativity, determination and responsiveness as they <br />strive to meet the needs of our community during the two remaining <br />decades of this century. <br />SHORELINE MANAGEMENT PERMIT <br />Moved by Councilman Aldcroft, seconded by Courc.11Tan Langus to grant <br />a Shoreline Manage ment permit to the Weyerhaetuse,. Company for <br />revision of wood room facility at Mill A. <br />Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes except Councilman <br />Ebert who was excused. <br />Motion carried <br />POLICE PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE <br />Moved by Councilman Rucker, seconded by Councilman Aldcroft to <br />authorize the Mayor to sign a contract for Police Professional <br />Liability Insurance for 1975 with the American Home Assurance Company <br />in the amount of $8,138. <br />Roll was called with all Councilmen voting yes except Councilman Ebert <br />who was excused. <br />Motion carried <br />RESOLUTION <br />Robert Royce, Housing Inspector, gave a report on an unsafe building <br />at 5217 South 2nd Street <br />On May 17, 1973, we received a memo from Fire Marshal Cooper which <br />listed deteriorated conditions at the old Odd Fellows Hall in <br />Lowell. The 'property owner at that time was George Unsworth and <br />our negotiations with him, for the rehabilitation of the property, <br />were fruitless. During our struggle with him, he sold the property <br />to Mr. Gerald Manley. <br />Wd notifed Mr. Manley by letter, of several violations of the <br />building code on March 26, 1974. There was no response to this <br />letter. On April 8, 1974, we issued a Notice of Unsafe Building, <br />which was mailed to Mr. Manley by certified mail. Mr. Manley re- <br />ceived this notice on April 10, 1974. <br />On April 18, 1974, Mr. Manley telephoned us and stated that he had <br />planned to repair the building and he requested thirty days extention <br />to effect this. <br />On June 17, 1974, after we noticed that the property had further <br />deteriorated, we mailed notice to Mr. Manley of a Building Officials <br />Hearing, which was held on July 16, 1974. As Mr. Manley did not <br />
