This backs onto <br />the property that is ?�einq considered here tonigt,t. I have had the property for more than 20 <br />years and in that time have had � majo�� consiruction update of my building and painted it a few <br />limes. I was required to satisfy the code with ihe required number of parking lots. <br />I believe it is in the besl interesis of ihe r�eightsorhQod to permit Ihe buiiding ot new well <br />constructed (ire resistant buildi�gs, and no on� is more enthuai2stic about the prospect of a new <br />building than me, but not at the expense of creating a stum area (or the next generation to cleal <br />with. Uvfortunately in this past year we have had a lot of problems with finding hypodermic <br />needles, 6eer bolUes and other human waste beinc� discarded inro the shrubbery of my clinic. I <br />am most anxicus to see a new building aird a new class of person in fhe apartments. <br />There is a prsmium on parking in the neighborhood every wort: d3y. mterestingly enough over <br />the past few months the parking has been e�sier no doubt t�eCause we have two newly not quite <br />finished ,auariment buiidings all within 5 or 6�ots ef this propcsed Luitding. Probably this very <br />building is presemly not lel, or let to people wi�hout car„ a�s there Y�as been a reduction noticed. <br />If you walk the streets it is easy tc �ee tha! cars have bi:en pre�iously pa��ed there as you can <br />see the accumulation of oii on the 2ide of t�;e road in all locatio�s s�rrou•nding lhis. <br />If there is not sufficienf parking within the 2parim�nl lots b�ing construc�ed ths cars �aiil out <br />over ihe roadways impeoing the ever yrowing Iraific. Vve ne2� wiean �vi�P sire�is, nct'.: imed up <br />back alleys. We have ;a do something to improve and then maintain a beiier image in downtown <br />Everet;. We do not need arry more car jammed alleys whiph mahe it e&sy for the seemingly more <br />prevalent drug traffic and transients that our town is having more problems with. A <br />represenlative of the Mayor's oifice was noi surprised fo hsar that we n�:v had lransionts <br />camped in a caz in our back alley and more than one attempt to sleep i�i my garden. If I v,•2nt to <br />keep out the cars and persons who are not cominy ,a my clinic for service Ihe police ta'�I rne I <br />must erect a large no traspassing sign �o ihey will be abio t,n;emove the oftendors. This fs a <br />sorry sight to come to ihe area. Its erection wiil also sto�i tl•�e persons parking on my In1 on <br />public hciidays (e.g. ihe 4th of July parade). An aclion I am not Flr�xicus to take a� is saem.s so <br />inhospitable and �nfriendly. <br />Putting up a new buildinn or renovating a buiiding lhat is deficient in parking lots encourages a <br />depressed area for at least ihe next couple oi generations, before these again can be rom �own <br />
