April 13, 1965 <br />Mr T U Wimmer <br />Seattle Lighting Company <br />222 - 2nd Avenue <br />Seattle, Washington RE: Merri-Crest Nursing <br />3515_ltoy#-_Ave---- <br />Dear Sir: Everett, Washington <br />Thank you for the letter of April 6th, explaining the construction <br />of the wall rung lighting fixtures at Merri-Crest Nursing Home. <br />Home <br />The fixtures came into considerable controversy as to whether they <br />could be classified as portable. The decision reached was, where <br />the base was designed for no other purpose then the support of this <br />particular fixture and it was permanently secured to the wall, ih,�r <br />tht fixture should be classified as a permanent fixture. This <br />then brought up the question of grounding where the fixture was <br />mounted less than eight feet from the floor. My agreement with <br />Mr. Merriweather was that if the manufacturer of the fixture, where <br />it is a specialty fixture not covered by the UL labeling service, <br />would feel this fixture could qualify for the label with the two <br />wire cord, then I would accept it. <br />As you can see this whole thing <br />Cation and we would have gladly <br />had not forced a decision. <br />LJD:rm <br />is in the gray area of interpre- <br />left it alone if outside pressure <br />Yours truly <br />L.
