Ted <br />Schmelz?r is still the owner of the property and Cronin is the builder. <br />_Ber� Cronin stated they rrere a11 one bedroom apartments an� th2� uere working <br />with the Housing �luthority for obtaining their clients and Lhe lntent is to <br />rent mainly to elderly. A similar unit on 33rd and Hoyt oas msinly elderly, <br />single tenancs and they have had no parking problens as the sCuay shows. <br />Zssac George, 4120 Hoyt, spoke against granting the variance, becau.,e of <br />already existing parking problems in the area. <br />Arth�r Jeue11� 4127 Hoyt� said if they xould limit the tenants to elderly; he <br />crould not be opposea to the variance. <br />Hert Cronin stated tney c:ould restrict the number of vehicles to one per <br />tenant and there uould be a manager on s'_:e to help control the parking. <br />Don Wood and Dennis Gregoire of the :lanning Staff spoke on the type of <br />project, crhich is small 500 square foot, one bedroom apartments ti� ; Nill <br />basically cater to the elderly and :rill ^ot generate the same Earkin� need as <br />larger tao or three bedroom apartments. <br />I�o one else spoke for or againsc the proposal. <br />Motion: Ross Hoagland m�ved to grant the variance based on the folloaing <br />reasons: � <br />1. I go into town tao or three times a day and drive down Hoyt and made my <br />orm study o: parking du.^ing the xeek for seven sCraight days and is <br />part oi the reasor ior making this motion. <br />2. I like the neatness of this type of housing and thi�k it would enhance <br />then neighborhood as there is presently txo old houses that wouid come <br />down. <br />3. There will be a live in manager to help resolve any problems. <br />'i. The problems in the area come from the mix of inedical offices c�ith <br />single family houses and this Hcard has comoounc:ed the problem by <br />granting parking variances so businesses could go ii: so a man could <br />have his property righcs. <br />
