6. It is not in the best interest of the area to grant a variance <br />for less than the required parking. <br />7. There is no limited parkins in the area now and r,arking is a <br />problern both day and cight. <br />Mr. Schmelzer then retaliated by� saying: <br />1. His parking will have to be approved by the Public Works Department <br />before he can use it. <br />2. Parkin9 is a mess now but that should be a problein of the City's <br />Public Works Department. . <br />3. He is askino for eight (8) off-street parking spaces and he will <br />enforce the covenant providing one (1) parking stall per tenant. <br />There was no further discussior. frroin the audience. <br />The Board then took the variance request under consideration and discussion. <br />It was then moved by Mr. Wilson, seco�ided by Mr. Eckstrom, to grant the <br />variance as they felt the request met all the req�iirements of Section 19.10.060 <br />of the Everett Municipal Code, Paragraphs 1, 2, 3, and 4. liowever, Mr. Russell <br />asked for a verbal vote and the results were as follows: <br />t4r. Eckstrom - In favor <br />2. Mr. Zook - Against <br />3. Mr. Floagland - Against <br />4. Mr. lJilson - In favor <br />5. Mr. Russell - Against <br />The variance was then denied by majurity vote. Mr. Russell then made the <br />following statements: <br />1. lie would su9gest Mr. Schmelzer work cooperatively with the neighbors <br />and virite a letter to City Council suggesCing they do something <br />about the existing parking problems. <br />2. There is a need for low cost housing in the city, but with the mixed <br />zoning of single family, multiple and business in the area it is <br />difficult for the Doard to allow any further restrictions on parking. <br />3. If Pir.
