i <br /> SECTION 1-06 CONTROL OF MATERIALS <br /> SECTION 1-Ob.l OF THE STANDARD SPE�CIFICATIONS IS SUPPLEMENTED WITH THE <br /> I FOLLOWING: � <br /> I1-06.1 Saurcc oCSupply and Quality oi'Matcrials <br /> Forci�n Made'-'��leria/s <br /> i The major quantities of stecl and iron construction material that is permanendy incorporated into the project <br /> shall consist of American-made materials only. <br /> I The Contractor may utilize minor quantities of foreign steel and iron in th,s project provided the cost of the <br /> foreign material used does not exceed one-tenth of one percent of the total contract cost or $2,500.00, <br /> whichever is greatcr. <br /> IAmericammade material is de6ned as ma?erial having all manufacturing processes occur in the United <br /> States. The action of applying a coating to s!eel or iron is deemcd a manufacturinb precess. Coating <br /> I includes epoxy coating, galvanizing, aluminizing, painting, and any other coati�ig that protects or enhances � <br /> the value of stecl or iron. Any process from the oriFinal reduction from ore to the �`inished product <br /> constitutes a manufacturing process for i�on. The following are corsidered to be stcel manufacturing <br /> I processes: <br /> l. Production of steel by any of the folla�ing processes: <br /> a. Open hearth furnace. <br /> I b. Basia oxygen. <br /> c. Elcctric furnace. <br /> d. Direct reduction. <br /> 2. Rolling,heat treating,and any other similar processing. <br /> i 3. Fabricaucn of the products. <br /> a. Spinning wire into cable or strand. <br /> b. Cortugaiing and rolling into culverts. <br /> Ic. Shop fabrication. <br /> A certification of materials origin will be required for any items co�rprised of, ar containing siecl or iron <br /> � construction materials prior to such items being inr.orporated into the permanent work. The certitication <br /> shall be on DOT Form 350-109 provided by the ingin?.er, or suc:h other form the Cor,.tractor chooses, <br /> �rovided it contains the same informatinn as DOT Form 3�0-IC?. <br /> !
