The aerial cable shall be
attached to the utility pole using one bolt clamp with one J-Hook. Attach J-Hook and clamp to pole with I-5/8"
diameter galvanized stecl bolt through pole with galvanized nut and washer. Messenger clamp and J-Hook shall
he gllvanized steel or stainless steel and be designed to support figure "8" cable. J-Hook and clamps shall not
Irequire stripping or splitting of the messenger from the cable for installa:ion.
At dead-end instailation install 5/8" diameter galvanized stecl thimbleye bolt through pole to attach dead-end
I strand vise type connectors at each end. Bolt shall be at least 3" longer than pole diameter and shall include a 2-
I/2" squar•curved washer and nut at the threaded end.
Strand vises shall be universal short-bail style sized to fit ,nessenger cable, corrosion resistant stainless steel. All
I other hardware shall be made specificaliy for Tclecommuuications System installations and shall be approved by
the Engineer prior to being used en this pruject. Clamps, bolts, washers and associated hardware made from
aluminum shall not be allowed.
IThe Cable Suspension Hardware shall be considered incidental to the interconnect cable pay items and no further
compensation will be made.
I8-20.6(6) Cable System Testing
Contact the engineer prior to test set-up.
Test Procedure: The continuity and quality of the cable systems shall be demonstrated in the presence and to thc
satisfacrion of the Gngincer. The Contractor shall give written notice of the testing date and time to the Engineer
who in turn will notify thc utiliry personnel. This noticc shall be giren a minimum of 5 working days in advance
Iof any testing. The
across the pair measurement shall be exactly the sum of th.r, conductor to growid measurements for eac1
conductor in ;.ach pav. The variance for resistance measrremenu shall br no more than 5% For equal
path Iengths across all conductors and pairs. Insulation resistance measurements shall also be conducted,
I pair to pair, wire to wire, and wires to ground. Use at least 500 V megger tester. No pairs connected tix
equipment.
I The Contracror siiall '.ceep an accuratc and dctaileil record o;all testing.
