I <br /> � <br /> Complete calculatioi�s for structural design shall be submitted with the shop drawings for approval before <br /> fabrication or osdcring ma[erial. These calculations shall include lhe stressr.s in the pole and cantilever <br /> arms, the de(lections at the free end of the cantilevers, the nttachment of the signals an� signs to the <br /> strucwre, the connection between the cantilever arms and vertical pole, pole secYion at handholes, base <br /> plate, anchor bolts, and founJation. The subminal shall include the material, specifications, dimensions, <br /> and details of the foundation and anchor bolts. <br /> Aggregate for the traffic signal poles shall conform to ASTM C-136, shall be a mixture, and shall be <br /> uniformly graded from a maximum size passing a #100 Sieve. Deleterious substances shall not excecd 5% <br /> Iby weight. Cement shall conform to ASTM G150, Type 111. Water shall not contain alkali, oil, and/or <br /> i organic material which will be harmtul to the quality of the concrete. Prestressing steel shall be securely <br /> tied to the spiral reinforcemen[ by an approved automatic caging method. Pole finish shall be as indicated <br /> I in the pfans. Tlie pole shall be sandblasted to expose the aggregatc and then sealed. <br /> The mast arms and (ittings shall be sandblasted until all foreign materials have been removed. All painting <br /> shall be pertormed by a spray system following the manufacturer's printed inswctions. The first coat sliall <br /> � be applied immediately after sandblasting before any corrosion begins and shall be one coat 3 mils thick of <br /> Iapproved "Zinc Rich Primer." The second coat shall be 1 mil thick and the final coat shall be 2 mils thick <br /> approved series o'inyl." All fercous metai shall be painted in the shop except areas requiring field touch up. <br /> I The final co!�r shall be as indicated in the plans and approved by the Bngineer. <br /> I <br /> No outside work will be performcd in damp weather, when the temperawre is below SO°F, or until sur aces <br /> I have thoroughly dried. The !ocation of the detectors shall be f ield checked and approved by the Engineer prior ro installation. <br /> IAll dcicctors shall be 3M Opticom brand as speci(ied on the plans. All detector wiring shall be 3M Opticom <br /> brand Model 138 shiclded deicctor cable or approved equal. <br /> I The detector cable shall be brought back to the controller as shown in the wiring schedu!e in the plans. No <br /> splicing will be allowed betwecn the detector and the controller cabinet. When called for in the plans the detcctor <br /> cable shall be attached ro a#9 galvanized iron wire messenger with black nylon tie wraps at 1 S" intervals. <br /> � <br /> � 9-29.14(2} Emergency Prcemption Beacons <br /> Rotating amber beacons to ser.�e as confirmation lights for the emergency preemption system shall be furnishcd <br /> and installed where shown on the pinns. The teacons shall have a light intensifying reFlector that rotate 360° <br /> around a low current 25 watt clear bulb ro provide 75-9U high intensity ilashes per minute. The beacon shall have <br /> a heavy duty 115 volt AC motor with sealed gcar usin, and an amber �olored, shattervresistant Icxan dome <br /> approximately 6" in diameter by 6" high.
