Permit # -44 r 5 s
Instructions:
1) Carefully review tY,e requirements of each of the options below. Choose an option that best suits your
dwelling design. Glazing percentage typically determines which option to choose. Your building must match
the selected Option requirements without exceptions or substitutions.
2) In the shaded areas on the ppger that follow, make checks in the circles next to the requirements of your
Option (the Option numbers are in parethebes next to the choices). Disregard components or equipment that
don't apply to your project. Your permit will be processed more efficiently if you provide all or the requested
information. Department staff can help you with general questions about this form.
Can't comply? If none of the Chapter 6 Options are acceptable, considsr the Chapter 5, Component
Performance, Approach. The main advantage is flexibility to juggle individual R and U-values as long as a n
overall maximum value isn't exceeded. Note that the overall thermal requirementc of Chapter 5 are nc less
stringent than Chapter 6. Calculations may be performed with a Chapter,5, Component Performance
Worksheet, or by using an acceptable computer program such as WATTSUN 5.1.
+a 1
O Y
MR
OPT I
OFT II
O
OPT III
O
OPT IV
O
OPT V
O
OPT VI
O
k z's,
O
k zsM-.')
O<
Glazing max:
of floor
10%
12%
12%
15%
16%0
21%
25%
30%
U-value 2
0.46
0.43.
•Q40:
0.40
0.39
0.36
0.35
0.32
Door U-value 2
0.40
0.20
0.40
0.20
0.20
0.20
0.20
0.20
(orR-value)
(R-2.5)
(R-5)
(R-2.5)
(R-5)
(R•5)
(R-5)
(R-5);;
(R-5):
x
Ceilings:
with attics.
R-38 ';
R-38
R38
R-38
R-38
R-38
R-38
R 38
`
vaulted
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
R30
R-30
R-30
R-30
Walls:
above grade
R-21
R-19
R-21
R-19
R-21
R-21
R-19
t
R-19
r
below grade
or interior
R-21
R-19
R-21
R-19
R-21
R-21
R-21
R-21
T`
exterior
R-10
A-10
R-10
H-10
A-10
R-10
R-10 '
R-10
1<
Floor
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
R-30
Slab on grade
R-10
1
R-10
R-10
R-10
1
R-10
R-10
R-10
R-10
Footnote:
1) r15 loom ehMIng mqulred In addltlon tr R19 cavity Insulation.
2) Glazing and door U•values may be welghted to meet the Optlen U-value requlroment.
'<
VTES44ORA6'SEPTEM,ER !SDI
A
