was repaired, and the heavy rain season has yet to hit us. Certainly only one of
the rains we have had since February should be labeled as a 107 year storm; the
rest have to be labeled as normal and expected. Nhen we reclaim the land on the
west side of the road from the sand, we will be putting tne spriig-fed creek and
natural h;llside drainnage back irto its natural channel and into the roadsie
ditch which now can't handle the srate drainnage. We are also experiencing
increased traffic as the River Road is closed due to the recent flooding and
resultant damage. The increased traffic makes it very hazardous to work on the
berm and keep water out of the shed. Drivers not familiar with the road are more
likely to have an accident when they hit the water.
We realize that a permanent solution will take time, money, creative engineering,
and a redefinition of Everett's development and zoning policies. But somethin9
needs to be done irtmediately about the !arimer Read overflows beforr: injuries and/
or excessive damage results. We feel that such interim measures as warning signs,
a reduced speed limit, enlarged culverts, and ditch reinforcement will help r.ontrol
the water situation until a permanent, comprehensive plan is determined and
implemented for yetting the state and city drainnage from the freeway to the
Snohomish River.
Please advise us uf your immediate plans for controlling the water and what you
expect in the wy of a long term solution.
Sincerely, n'
 j , :/l'
i
2+_eci/u l,Zao?
Dale and Elaine Wilso
6716 Larimer Road
Everett, WA 98204
CC: Dan Mathias
