Criterion No. 6: The need for the rec,uested variance is not the result of a self- <br />created hardship. <br />a. Findinqs: The applicant has stated that the primary need for i�e <br />variance is the unusual location and orientation of the existing <br />residence on site. <br />The Board finds that lhe orientation of the residence to the east <br />rather than toward the streel creates a situation in which the south <br />side of the house functions as a side yard rather than a fronl yard. <br />and therefore the proposed expansion is in line with the existing <br />structure. Also, the age of the structure and the location of the <br />structure on site have created a need for the variance and it i,> noi <br />the result of improvements made to the site by the applicant and <br />therefore is not the result of a self created hardship. <br />b.
