On June 28, 1989,
an engineering geologist from our office met with you at the site to examine the
conditions exposed in the open excavation and provide you consultation relating to the
geotechnica] aspects of house construction.
At the time of our visit, much of the excavation for the house had been completed. Our
representative examined the subgrade conditions exposed in the excavation which had
been made as a series of level benches cut into the gentle hillside at the project site.
Some perimeter footing lines had already been excavated at the time of our site visit, but
no forms were in-place. In general, significant susur:ace dra:nage had been installed
around the house area to intercept groundwater traversing through the clean glacial
outwash soils exposed in much of the excavation. The outwash soils directly overlie
laminated dense and hard silt soils which appear to underlie the house pad at varying
depths below the outwash. The general excavations observed appeared to be based in
either the firm native sand and gravel or in the dense underlie native silt soi:s which
probably underlay much of this hillside area.
15301 N.L 901h Street • Redmond, Washington 98052 • Phone (206) 881-55;0 • FAX No. tSG9•9173
Mailing ddress: P.O. 13or 3338 • Redmond, Washington 91i073
I
I
