April 4, 2000
Gary Parkinson
2812 Colby
Everett WA 98201
Subject Owner: Prime Equipment
Job Address: 2810 Highland
Plan Check No.: B0003-035
Dear Mr. Parkinson:
in response to your application for a construction permit, your plans have been examined and you are
advised that the issuance of a permit is being withheld for the reasons listed below. These comments
address building issues only. Additional revisions or additions may be regtired by other departments
(such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the 1997 Uniform Building Code, as
amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 1997 Edition, unless stated
otherwise.
In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be neceseary to provide the
Building Division with two complete sets of drawings reflecting the corrections requested.
The submittal indicated the 6,120 sq. ft existing building to be non-sprinklered. City Ordinance
No. 1902-92 prohibits increasing its area without sprinklering it as well as the new addition
(canopy excluded).
2. The shear walls appear insufficiently designed and detailed. Calculations indicate 14 ft. of length
at the lower level front where the drawings indicate 9-1h ft. The floor plans indicate six different
types of shearing walls where the shearwall schedule indicates two. The holdown schedule is
incomplete. Holdowns of the upper level, front left shear walls have nothing below to attach to.
Construction documents for the canopy must be submitted prior to issuance of a building permit.
Please prepare a response letter showing where each item in this correction letter is addressed on the
plan set.
Upon resubmital of the drawings, your application will be given priority and plan review will
recommence.
All required submittals shall be of sufficient detail and contain sufficient information to ensure that the
proposed structure will be constructed in compliance with all adopted codes.
Sincerely, I
Steve Miller
Associate Engineer, P.E.
SM.jMW3-035
CITY OF EVERETT• 3200 Cedar Street 9 Everett, WA 98201 • (425) 257-8800 • Fax (425) 257-8856
