The two clOsest failures, both located within 300
feet of the site, showed vertical scarps 1 S to 25 feet higf near the Crest oF the slope.
1

; CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATTONS
lt is the opinion of Dames dc Moore that the DoposeQ garage will not induce failuro of the
adjacent slope Drovided drainaQe during artd efter construction is properly diverted from the site.
However, there are clear indiCations that the slopes in that erea are experiencln a mOdCrately
active deree of aaturally occurring sope instability. The possibility therefore exisp that sueh
instability may occur at the slte in question during the lifetimc of the structuro. If instsbillty
does occur, it is likely to consist of shallow'alabbing"type failures, involving perhaps 3 to 5 feet
thick slabs of soil that drop away from the upDer hatf of the slope.
We thank you for the opportunity co be of eervice on thie proJecc.
