Fiu
In the location of Boring Sl, Cill was encountered to a depth of eight feet.
The fill was a medium-denx,tan to brown, silty sand with some gravel.
The upper portion of the fill to a depth of four feet was mottled from
surface water migration. 'Itie material had traces of organics which
appear to be small pieces of bumed wood. However, deleterious materials
did not appear to be a major constituent of the fill. It is our understanding
that this material will be removed for the placement of the basement
parking area and thercforc will not come into play for the placenent of the
foundation.
Dense,Taa,Fine Sand
The dense, fine sand was encountered at a depth of five feet Lelow thc
surCace at the southem end of the site beneath an upper silt layer. This
material appears to be competent and has the abiliry to support the
required loads.
SNff,Gray Silt
A stiff, gray silt was encountered at a depth of approximately eight feet
below the fill in Boring qi. Similar material also appeared near the
surface at the southem end of the site in the location of Boring#2. The
soils are stiff with an existing moisture content of 16 percent.
Stli'f,Brown Silt
A very stiff, brown silt was encountered at a depth of approximately 16
feet in Boring M2. Groundwater was perched above this elevation.
Dense,Tan,Coarse Sand
Below the stiff silts at a depth of approximately 20 feet in both borings,a
very dense, coarse sand was encountered. The sands are typical of that
found along the face of the slope both to the north and south of the subject
propeny.
Groundwater
Groundwater was perched above the stiff silts in Boring#2 at a depth of 13
feet. The slope to the west was inspected, however, and no seeps were
apparent. No water was encountered in Boring RI.
The boring logs(Appendix) present a detailed description of each boring. The
relative densiry of the soils indicated in the logs was iatetpreted by visual
cbservation and the stability of the side walls during excavation.

Pon Gardner Condominiums-Geofechnical Report Page 3
