S. Environmental Elements

2. Air
We ovn property next door to this project, 2518 Gran2 Ave., a very
small greenbel[ in this area with ten cedar trees, 30 fruit trees and
miscellaneous shrubs. ?ie would like to have a bit of air and sunshine to
maintain this small area. Closing us in could dama5e the trees.
With the two Scott Paper parking lots just off 24th and 25th Streets
and all of the tzaffic genecated by Scott, ve have lots of automobile
emissiona. Then, of course, the large trucks that come up the hill on
25th Street and the tailroad tracics only about a half—block away—if there
uas ever a spill or disaster, bumperto—bumper traffic vould be the
result. The air is very often hard to breathe (please aee attached
cllppinga).
7. Environmental Health
a. As to the environmencal health hazards, it should be noced by
the enclosed clippings that there are such risks in this area, not from
this project, of course, but definitely in this area, along aith the noise
froa Scatt Paper and the railroa+.
f. iihat is the current comprehenstve plan designation of the
site?
Multiple Family 25-50 DU/Gross Acre
At ttis [ime, there are 28 duellings on the aest side of Grand
Ave. and 23 on the east side of Grand Ave. On this block ehere are evo
daycare businesaes and eight apartments. The total for ehe block is 51
and vhen moat evr.ryone has tvo automobiles, ehe block becomes very
crowded.
 j. Appcoximately how many people vould the comple[ed project
displace?
About 5 low—income units, 8—LO people.
1. Proposed meaeures to eneure the proposal is compatible wlth
existing and projeeted land usea and plans, if any:
An apartment building this large vould be very out of place on
thie block—the average apartment on this block consists of 4 or 5 units.
9. Housing
c. Proposed meaeures to reduce or control housing impacts, if
any:
The anaver: AREA IS UNDERDEVELOPED is very Wrong. Nith Scott
Paper parking lots, tvo daycare buainesses, and eight apartmenta on this
block, it could not be classified as underdeveloped. 51 dvellinga on one
block, plus the 28 asked for, wauld add up to 79. This is not just an R-5
Core Area, it !s a highly saturated area and with [he Navy route planned
on the next block, this area is overdeveloped.
10. Aesthetics
a. ihat ia the tallest height oE any proposed structure(s), not
including antennas; vhat is the principal huilding material(s) proposed?
This saya 2—story, but does noc give the enact height. There
seems to be some doubt here--also 3—story is mentioned, wnat is the exact
height?
L'"}CHIBT i
vy z
