These comments address building issues only. Additional revisions or additions may be required by other departments (such as Utilities, Planning or Fire). All references refer to the (2009 International Building Code,) (2009 International Residential Code,) as amended by the State of Washington and/or Washington State Energy Code 2009 Edition, and adopted by the City of Everett, unless stated othenvise. In order for the processing of your application to continue, it will be necessary to provide the euilding Division with two new complete sets of drawings reflecting the corredions requested. 1. Where supported by attachment to an exterior wall, decks shall be positively anchored to the primary strudure and designed for both vertical and lateral loads as applicable. Such attachment shall not be accomplished by the use o( loenails or nails subject to withdrawal. Where posilive connection to the primary building structure cannot be veri ied during inspection, decks shall be self supporting (R502.2.? IRC). Show how deck is attached lo existing struc[ure. 2. Deck lateral load connection / R502.2.23 IRC. The lateral load connection required by Section K502.2.2 shall be permitted to be in accordance �vith Figure R502.�.2.3. Hold- ,+.own tension devices shall be installed in nol Iess than two locations per deck, and each device shall have an allowable stress design capacity of not less than 1500 pounds. 3. Provide detail(s) of knee brace connections. Specify length of lag bolts. 4. Specify connection of "ABU66" capable of resisting lateral loads.
