The south and north garage walls
y should be constructed before any additional cut for the west wall
is made. After the south and north walls are completed, additional
excavation for the west wall should proceed from the ends toward
* the center. After excavating one segment at one end, the wall for
this segment should be completed with the concrete gaining
sufficient strength before the excavation is alternated to the
other end. The west wall should proceed in this sequence until it
is completed.
Y Alternatively, an excavation retention system can be used to shore
the cut and allow continuous construction of the garage walls.
This is discussed in the Soldier Pile Shorina Wall section below.
_ - !R
1 "'
 1 .
Foundation 8yatam
Based on our findinqs of the site soil conditions, it is our
opinion that a conventional footing system can be used for
supporting the proposed garage. The footings should be placed on
the very dense, reddish brown silty, gravelly sand or the very
dense, cemented, gray silty sand soil unit. our recommended design
criteria for the footing system are as follows:
• Allowable bearing pressure, including all dead and live loads
= 6,000 psf
• Minimum depth to bottom of footing below exterior garde
= 18 inches
• Minimum width of wall footings = 18 inches
• Mitimum lateral dimension of column footings = 24 inches
Geo Coaeultanta Inc.
n
