TechData <br />MECHANICAL ASSIST C0NTR01 OPERATION <br />APPLICATION <br />Mechanical assist control operation is <br />available on aft Spacesaver carriages with <br />synchro system drives. Mechanical assist <br />control operation can be used with roller <br />bearing, center flange or dual flange guidance <br />systems. Safety control options include <br />mechanical assist automatic aisle lock, or <br />safety brake with safety floor and or safety <br />sweep. <br />SYNCHRO SYSTEM LOCATION <br />TECH SPEC <br />MECHANICAL ASSIST CONTROL OPERATION REQUIREMENTS: <br />Each moveable carriage shrill be equipped with one ergonomically designed mechanical <br />assist three spoke hub type operator that rotates with easy up or down user effort from any <br />possible starting position of any moveable carriage. Each spoke shall have a rotating, soh - <br />touch, thennoplaslic hand grip ergonomically designed to lit the hand 1,314' (44 mm) in <br />diameter and 2' (50 mm) long. The center of the mechanical assist operator shell be <br />conveniently located 39' (990 mm) from the base, and in the center of the face panel, and <br />the spokes shall rotate In a radius of not more than 8-11Z (215 mm) from the center of the <br />hub. NI rotating hub and shaft surfaces in the mechanical assist operator shall ride on bell or <br />roller bearings. The power transfer from the mechanical assist operator to the drive axle <br />shall be through sprockets and a #35 roller chain which shall how an adjustable chain <br />tensloner for easy adjustabllity, and be accessible from the front of the face panel without its <br />removal. The vner's starting effort shrill not exceed one pound to move a minimum 01'4,000 <br />lbs., and each 360 degree revolution of the mechanical assist operator shall move the <br />carriage a minimum distance of •5.31'. All elements of the drive system except the 3 spoke <br />operator and Its hub shall be concenled behind the face panel for safety. Each mechanical <br />assist operator shall have a positive on and off anti -roll safety lock with a visual fluorescent <br />green indicator in the unlocked state, located on the operator hub. The entire assembly shall <br />protrude a maximum of 3-1/2' (88 mr.i) from the finished surface of the face panel. <br />For keyed hub lock add: Each hub operator as Indicated on the drawings shall have a <br />keyed hub lock which locks the safety lock preventing carriage movement. (-Weights and <br />distances are variable.
