Please note that the Type I Hood permit cannot be issued until a building permit for the <br />tenant improvement is issued. <br />General <br />1. To indicate what is being proposed as new workon this permit, please revise the drawings as follows: <br />a. Please indicate new work with dark lines. Existing work should be indicated as light lines, <br />and demolition work should be indicated with dashed lines. This includes ceilings, wall sections, <br />doors, stairs, ramps, structure, and toilet rooms, and any other revision where a building permit <br />is required, per IBC section 105.1. <br />b. The drawings should be clear enough that the scope of the new work could be understood by <br />someone other than the submitter. <br />Type I Hood <br />i. The start and termination of the grease duct fire wrap for the Type I hood ducts shouid be <br />shown on building sections to extend from the Type I hoods to the outlet terminal, per <br />IMC Section 506.3.10.2.;,') <br />a. For zero cicarance to combustible roof construction, the listed assembly for the <br />grease duct enclosure system of onc hour fire resistant duct fire wrap (two layers) <br />should be shown to meet the requirements of ASTM E 2336, per IMC section <br />506.3.6, exception 3. <br />b. 18 inches of clearance is required from the combustible roof assembly, unless the <br />listed assembly of one hour fire resistant duct wrap is shown on the drawings. Note <br />that an enclosed rated duct enclosure is not required where penetrating a non-rated <br />roof-ceiling assembly, per IMC section 506.3.11.4. The Type I hood duct enclosure <br />currently shown on the drawings does�not meet the reduction requirements for zero <br />clearance to combustible construction. <br />2. Where the kitchen ceiling abuts the Type I hood, 18 inches (currently 12 inches is shown) <br />of a smooth, cleanable, nonabsorbent and noncombustible material should be shown on <br />the drawings between the hood and the ceiling material, per ehe exception to IMC section <br />507.9. � <br />y3 <br />
