9
CASCADE GEOTECHNIrAL INC.
1.0 ViTRODUCTION
Group West Associates, Inc. requested Cascade Geotechnical, Ire.,, to conduct a geotechnical
investigation at the Evergreen Textile Services Site located in Everett, Washington. This report
summarizes the findings of our field investigation, presents geotechnical conclusions, and
provides preliminary recommendations for the proposed project.
Jack Johnson of Jon -Dahl Properties granted authorization to proceed with this project on May
9, 1994, by signing our Proposal Letter dated April 27, 1994.
2.0 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The purpose of this study was to investigate the surface and subsurface conditions at the site in
order to formulate conclusions and provide preliminary geotechnical recommendations for the
construction of two (2) tilt -up panel warehouses and office buildings with associated parking,
drive, and load -unload areas.
Our scope of work for this project included the following:
• conducting a geotechnical surface and subsurface investigation
• a review of information contained in our library and files
• the preparation of a geotechnical engineering report
During the study, our scope of work was modified to include the excavation of four (4) trackhoe
test pits within the proposed wetlands mitigation area. We understand this information will be
used by the project's Wetlands Consultant for mitigation design. Subsurface information was
obtained in the building areas using hand -operated auger and cone penetration equipnent.
The scope was later increased again to include reinforced wall design and pavement section
design.
This report addresses the site's surface and subsurface conditions, and presents conclusions
regarding the geotechnical suitability of the site for development. This report also provides
preliminary geotechnical recommendations for:
0 subgrade preparation and grading
