CASCADE GEOTECHNICAL INC.
June 2, 1994
Job No. 9405-MG
grade increases to approximately 4H:1V in the vicinities of the northwestern and central swampy
areas. An approximately thirty (30) foot high, northwest Wing cutslope rises at a grade of
2H:1V from 75th Street Southwest to the site's western portion.
4.2 Subsurface Investigation
Subsurface conditions at the site were investigated by L avating and logging four (4) trackhoe
test pits in the proposed wetlands mitigation area on May 16, 1994, and by conducting six (6)
hand -advanced dynamic cone penetration tests (DCPTs), and six (6) hand-augered test borings
in the vicinity of the proposed building areas on May 24, 1994. The three (3) inch diameter test
borings were conducted over or immediately adjacent to the DCPTs yielding six (6) combination
MSS/DCPT logs for this study.
Representatives from our firm located the test holes in the field by measuring relative to
landmarks using the provided Grading Plan, tape, and pocket transit. The locations of the test
holes are shown on the Site Plan presented in Appendix A.
Soil logs for the test holes presented on the Site Plan are shown in Appendix B. Soil samples
were obtained from the test pits and MSS borings and returned to our office for further review.
The soils we observed during logging of the test borings were classified according to the Unified
Soils Classification System (USCS), utilizing field classification procedures outlined in ASTM
D 2488. A copy of the USCS is presented in Appendix E.
Depths referred to in this report are relative to the existing ground surface at the time of our
field investigation. The subsurface conditions were determined based on the observations made
at the site at the time of our field investigation.
4
