Provide
teceaunendttions for overacavuion of sty soft, loose or otherwise unsuitable soils
encountered, as appropriate.
6. Evalues W preparation of the floor slab subgrodes.
7. Monitor construction of block walls including foundation subgrsde preparation, drainage
preparation mad the placement of bacltftll soils.
g. Prepare a Summary report at the conclusion of cur construction monitoring services.
Doeollod results of our construction monitoring services have been presented in our daily
field repots for dw project, tattabon 1 through 32, dated May 9, 1997 through November A,
1997. Copies of the fluid reports hive treat provided to the site superintendent.
OBSERVATIONS
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
R'e evaluated subsurface soil red ground water condidom by excavating eleven test pits
throughout the site. 1n addition, we reviewed three test pit logs mnpleted by Cucade
Geotsehnlcal EtSlacoring provided in their Jum 2, 19% report.
Portions of Bulldinj A and BuUding R am were btenhetad with All up to 9 feet thick. Fill
generally consisted of loose silly m d with vatylag aatounts of organic$. Bawth the All,
a"= deals to very dents gleoittl till consisting of silty sand with varying amotms of gravel
was encountered in all of the test pits. 9ubsurtwe conditions in the sea of buudiM C consisted,
of deers native glacial till.
GRADING
Bolt cutliog and filling were required to aehleve the deep grades in fhe building areas.
Structural All used to achieve the design grades In the building area generally consisted of 01141te
material. In -play density tow were conducted ma the structural All was placed mod compacted.
Paved uau were brought to grade using on -tile native glacial till and On -Ike silty sand with
orgattics (previously placed fill). In general the AU contalag organics was of marginal quality
and was placed in the lower elevations Of the light traffic areal Qmrking) northeast of BuUdlag B.
This material was compacted to the extent possible. A geotmile fabric was placed over these
areas and capped with 2 tense of structural fill corupaeted to 95 peraat. Fill placed in the heavy
traffic seas was compacted to 93 percent.
The on -site soils were generally above opt n m mobturs for eductive compactor. This
required conoWerable meal tioe and, on ocuation, the addition of lute to reduce moisture eontatus
enough to achieve adequsts compaction. Oar observations WA tau results Indicate that tba
stnutu al fill was compacted in general scoordum with our recommendations.
0 8 0 B o a i e 1 0 r r IMk Me. 5e014011-77-1110
m 007
