Extensive overescavation was <br />required on the western perimeter will footing;. Footing trenches wom backAiled with btpocted <br />and on -site fin. Excavation for Building B footings began on June 18, 1997. Gvmv=vated <br />footing trenches were bacldL'led with on -site soils. Building C wan footing subgrades were <br />evaluated on June 18, 1997. <br />The footing wbgtades were evahstsd prior to placing cOOM A for footings. Footing <br />subgtade am which were soft or otherwise unwitabk were overexcaysted and replaced with <br />struannal fill. Repairs of these areas were completed satisfactorily. In our opinion, the footing <br />wbgtades were prepared in accordance with our mc4aenendation. <br />BLOCK WALLS <br />Construction of the block walls bsgtrtt on August 1e, 1997 sad September S, 1997 for the <br />wan located southwest of Building A and the wall aroUl d the Norm water detention pond. <br />respectively. Bactf111 material used on both wails consisted of snits arbaurd fill. Wall <br />sabpreds and drain comizvoticn were not observed on the wall fantod neat Building A. Also, <br />ow monitoring of construction of IM block walls did not include observation of the pbtosmant <br />of the geogrid rdnfbtcing for the block walls. Wall footing subgrades watered the detection pond <br />were evdu*W by probing. Footing ntbgndes which were soft or otherwin emwitable were <br />ovetexoevsW and replwW with sttudaW fill. In general, the subgradsi was In a doors more -yielding <br />condition; however, localised areas of soft subgreds wen idsmtified. <br />Wet weather conditions preceded flaal preparation of the pavement attbgtda. Several <br />localised area of soft subgrde had developed as a rosult of the wet comditkms and coamcdon <br />traAle. We did not have an opportudty to reevointe these areas prior to paving.
