r Plan Check No. 1131
Y,en Callahan, Building Official
October 1, 1981
Page Three
It would appear that for at least the end o-ialls, the shear is critical.
Bolt values are usually used to justify this - Section 2614(e), last
sentence, secund paragraph - but they have hooks at their ends.
The engineer should rejustify the solution to this problem.
6. Section 14.2.1 of the 1977 edition of the ACI code requires pilasters
supporting the nlued-larinated beams to be designed as columns (i.e., 4 bars
minimum, variable spaced ties, 4 dowels into the footing, etc.). The
design for moment only used for justification for detail SY.-3 should be
inodified to comply vith this.
7. It is my understandin9 that the soil may not have been compacted under
the pour strips. These strips are used to resist the lateral force from
the v+all panels as discussed above. If the soil settles under them, then
this resistance is greatly reduced. Compaction reports should be submitted
to prove Che compaction.
An invoice for 8 hours of professional time taill be forwarded to you under
separate cover.
I am returning the office copy of the approved plans to you and aill retain
the other plans and data in antici,r,ation of further a+ork on this project.
Please have the engineer indicat on a separate sheet on •iiiat sheet or
detail the co n•ection may be iound.
Please feel free to contact me if there are any quesCions.
Very truly yours,
,zn,J" dtIt
: " _
Jerry J.
