r :1 Atter CITY OF EVERETT RESOLUTION NO. 5212 A RESOLUTION Authorizing Unique Fare Media for Snohomish County Employees WHEREAS, Snohomish County government campus is undergoing a significant campus re-development in downtown Everett commencing May 2002 with estimated completion May 2004; and WHEREAS, the County supports local efforts to reduce air pollution and traffic congestion, by implementing programs that will encourage their personnel to use alternative modes of transportation other than driving alone in an automobile; and WHEREAS, EVERETT TRANSIT operates a public transit system for routed bus service, and para-transit service; and WHEREAS, EVERETT TRANSIT, as stated in its mission statement, is charged with helping "local governments manage anticipated Snohomish County growth in a manner that minimizes the negative environmental and social consequences"; and WHEREAS, EVERETT TRANSIT, through interlocal agreements, has been appointed to administer the Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Laws in the City of Everett. These laws are aimed at reducing automobile-related air pollution and traffic congestion; and WHEREAS. The County, under a separate agreement, has agreed to lease up to 342 parking spaces at Everett Station for its employees; and WHEREAS, EVERETT TRANSIT, as directed by City Council, offers special group-fare rates to businesses located in the City of Everett; and WHEREAS, a special group rate for services between the County campus and Everett Station is believed to encourage the use of Everett Transit services and mitigate potential parking problems in downtown Everett.
