5
5. Combined Sewer Plan and Profile: Develop a detailed design for the combined sewer mains and
manholes, storm drains and lateral connections. Prepare and draft construction drawings, special
details, general details and notes. The work associated with facilities to be designed includes
preparation of single strip, plan and profile drawings for the pipeline (i.e. one plan and profile strip,
approximately one city block long per sheet at a scale of 1" =20' horizontal and 1" = 4' or 1"= 5'
vertical). The following special construction and restoration information will be identified on the plan
and profile drawings:
• Temporary erosion control measures,
• Pavement restoration design,
• Traffic control,
• Existing items to be protected,
6. Pavement restoration surface geometry at streets will be largely based on matching the existing
pavement surface geometry for drainage and restore traffic markings in kind.
7. Based on previous similar projects in alleys, it is anticipated that a moderately high level of design
effort is needed to coordinate grading and drainage designs with elevations of existing parking areas,
driveways, catch basins, and yards so that drainage is restored to match original conditions or as
otherwise necessary.
8. All drawings will meet City of Everett standards including title block and CAD standards.
9. Special Details: Contractor will prepare various details for manhole restoration, special connections,
trench and backfill configurations, special pavement restorations, etc.
10. Landscaping and Vegetation Restoration: Plans, details and notes for tree trimming, soil restoration,
planting and vegetation restoration in alleys shall be minimal. The City shall provide the services of
an arborist if needed. Soil, restoration, planting and turf restoration at Jackson Park shall be as
directed by the City.
11. Utility Coordination: Design development will include collaboration with utility companies that are
affected by the project. The sewer replacement design will attempt to avoid conflicts to the maximum
extent possible. If utility relocation must be done, the plans and specifications will include designs
and other information as required by the respective utilities. Collaboration with utility companies
may occur during the first 30%design period and they will be asked to review the 60% progress plans
for coordination and technical input. Coordinate meeting with utilities and distribute plans. Keep a
written record of all communication with utility providers.
12. Project Manual: Prepare a separate project manual for each of the two projects consisting of bidding
and contract documents, standard details, technical specifications and appendices. Technical
Specifications will be based on the City of Everett Standard Specification format.
13. The Contractor shall apply a Washington Professional Engineer's stamp with signature and date on
the final edition of the project manual and each sheet of the drawings.
Work Products:
1. The plan set for the project is summarized below and will include the following drawings:
17
Sewer System Replacement"H" Dec 16,2005
Amendment 3, Scope of Services Page 8 550502(UP3206)
