February 15, 2017 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 <br /> p.m., February 15, 2017, in the City Council Chambers of the William E. <br /> Moore Historic City Hall, Council President Tuohy presiding. Upon roll call, <br /> it was found that Council Members Moore, Murphy, Franklin, Bader, and <br /> Tuohy were present. Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Roberts <br /> and Stonecipher were excused. <br /> Members of Cub Scout Pack 1 and 2 led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the February 8, 2017, City Council meeting were approved <br /> as printed. President Tuohy abstained from the vote. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Moore provided an education update and stated he <br /> testified to the Washington State Appropriations Committee regarding the <br /> McCleary Decision on education funding. <br /> Council Member Murphy stated he attended the Wendt Award of <br /> Excellence Ceremony hosted by the Cultural Arts Commission. He also <br /> represented the City by providing welcoming remarks at the 2017 USA <br /> Curling National Championship on February 11. He reported on his <br /> attendance at the Port Gardner neighborhood meeting, where a <br /> presentation was given by Ed Peterson of Housing Hope. He also <br /> provided liaison reports from the Snohomish Health District board meeting <br /> and the Fire Pension Board meeting. He commented on his attendance at <br /> the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee and the Everett Police Awards held <br /> on Wednesday. <br /> Council Member Bader also commented on his attendance at the 2017 <br /> USA Curling National Championship. He provided a liaison report on his <br /> attendance at the Riverside neighborhood meeting, where an auction was <br /> held to support the Animal Shelter. He also suggested adding security <br /> cameras to parks after the occurrence of vandalism at Legion Park in the <br /> last few days. <br /> Council Member Franklin provided an update from the Lodging Tax <br /> Advisory Committee. She commented on her attendance at the National <br /> 58 <br />
