/111.1Sv/Zal <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4913 <br /> A RESOLUTION supporting certain of the Snohomish County <br /> Executive's recommendations to the Snohomish County Council <br /> regarding Snohomish County's governmental functions and operations <br /> being retained and expanded in downtown Everett <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett and Snohomish County have a long history of working together <br /> on issues of common interest to achieve results that are in the interests of our citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of a series of meetings, an understanding has been reached between the <br /> City and County Administrations which is reflected in this Resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Snohomish County is currently considering a number of solutions to its identified <br /> need for additional general office, pre-adjudication jail and court facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council has previously expressed its concern that Everett already <br /> hosts more than its fair share of the County's correctional facilities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have and continue to support the County's expansion <br /> of its downtown Everett civic complex to meet the County's pressing space needs and to <br /> maintain downtown Everett as the County seat of government; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Everett and Snohomish County acknowledge the existence of land use <br /> regulatory processes that must be followed in order for the County to expand its downtown <br /> Everett civic complex and Snohomish County is aware that, at this time, the City Council can not <br /> make binding commitments which might prejudice the land use process; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council wishes to demonstrate its support for the Snohomish <br /> County Executive's recommendations that retain and expand the County's governmental <br /> functions and operations in downtown Everett; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Everett City Council supports the County Executive's recommendation that the <br /> County not exercise its option to purchase the two- and three-story office buildings at the <br /> BOMARC site; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council understands Everett's role as the County seat for a variety of <br /> purposes and facilities, which support the County's administrative functions and the County's <br /> court-related law and justice activities including pre-adjudication incarceration; and <br />
