No. 787-23G
Page 2
f
Structural fill should consist oi yranular soils free of orqanics I
and excessive fines, placed in ten (10) inch maximum lifts and
compacted to 95$ of ASTM D-1557 .
To discourage pumpinq and groundwater buildup, we suggest the ex-
cavation base be filled utilizing two (2) feet of washed aggregate I
or cobbles and allowed to drain groundwater thru a daylighted drain. I
All foundation and roof drains could be connected to this subsurface
drain to disallow foundation soils saturation. This fill and drain- i
age should be oerformed prior to placement of structural fill.
Foundations should be placed such that a uniform thickness of struct-
ural fill occurs under all footings. This will aid in reducing
differential settlements which could cause distress to the structure.
F7e feel performance of recommendations as discussed herein will create
adeq_uate foundation stabilization. Maximum allowable soil pressure
of 800 PSF is recommended.
Thank you for this opportunity to be of service.
