Chairman Nash
explained the procedure to be followed. Ashwell-?wist and Ken Callahan will each be
given 10 minutes to make their presentation; five minutes each for rebuttal will follow.
The Board wiil then be allowed time to ask any questions they might have after which a
recess will be called; a decision made and announced.
Dob Hollister of Ashwell-Twist Company distributed packets to the Qoard members and
made the following points:
1 . Two (2) 1/2" copper water lines are to penetrate the toilet
exhaust shafts and these will be properly sealed.
2. There is a precedent for this method of penetration in Spokane,
Bellevue and King County, and the contractor was surprised at
objections in Everett. Photos of a Spokane project oere circulated.
3. The Uniform Building Code allows for this tyoe of construction;
Chapter 43 ras cited.
4. Other Building Officials, Dill Carroll of Snohomish County and
Claude Myerick of King County, allow this type of shaft penetration.
1_ —
