' 2. Any consideration of a'parking variance was denied
us when we built in this area which forced us to
purchase additional property to meet the code.
Mr. .Newland should be treated the same.
3, The existing parking code is very liberal and
should at least be enforced equally for all builders.
4. This "proposed" building is already under construction.
How does a building permit get issued before Code
deficiencies aru resolved?
The Board, members of the City staff and the audience then
discussed and answered questions for a period of time.
After visual. observation of the subject property and considering
all the facts and testimony, it was moved by Mr. Black, seconded
by Mr. Kristiansen, and unanimously carried to grant the
applicant's request.
This request is granted with the understanding that temporary
parking will. be provided by lease of City property located on
the dead end of Bast 33rd St, without permanent improvements, for
one (1) year from this date or until the State Highway Department
approves the use of the adjacent property for parking.
A hearing was held on the application of David O'Connor, 8251
l.0th Avenue, Everett, Washington for a variance from Section
19.14.050, E.C.C. (Zoning Code) Yard Requirements, paragraph A,
for permission to construct an attached carport to his residence
to within ten (10) feet of the front property line rather than
the code requirement- of twenty (20) feet.
Legal Description: Lot 53, Cascade Mountain view
Address: 8521 loth Ave, Everett, WA
Zoning: R-1 Single Family Low -Density Residence
Mr. O'Connor made the following statements in his behalf:
1. There is a very definite need for getting his
cars off the street.
2. There will be many safety factors for the children
once the cars are removed from the street.
3. There will. be an improved appearance to the property.
4. There will also be a much improved means of a fire
escape from the upstairs bedrooms with the attached
carport.
Mr. O'Connor also presented to the Board a petition signed by
approximately fifty (50) adjoining neighbors who were in favor
of the granting of variance.
